Ru–Pt, Pt and Ru catalysts supported on Al ₂ O ₃ –ZrO ₂ were prepared by impregnation methods. The as-prepared catalysts were employed in the catalytic wet air oxidation of methylamine. We found that Pt addition could improve the catalytic activity of the Ru catalyst by tuning the Ru surface chemical state and the dispersion of active species in the bimetallic catalyst. CWAO of MA follows a chemisorption mechanism.
