A technique is described for recording tremor under clinical conditions during investigation into Parkinson's disease. Unlike most of the previous work on this subject, this was done with a view to record the displacement of the limb, which, it is believed, is the parameter of which the patient is aware. Transducers measuring displacement directly are not suitable as they place too great a restriction on the movement of the patient. The displacement was computed using a double time integration of the acceleration of the limb, sensed by an acceleration transducer mounted on its extremity.
