A review of current and recent research in social gerontology in West Germany is presented against the background of demographic data on the elderly population. An overview of institutional research activity in the field is included. Research topics are described by substantive area such as social policy, housing, employment, and similar designations. An extensive biblography of post-1965 references is presented.
