Part of the extensive negative-ion/molecule reaction scheme in SF 6 due to O'Neill and Craggs (1973) has been applied to the analysis of measured ion transients as derived from the pulsed Townsend method over the range 212<or=E/N<or=303 Td, and gas number densities from 1.3 to 2.6*10 23 m -3 . Relevant data obtained from this study are the charge transfer coefficients, which are in good agreement with those of McGeehan et al. (1975) for the reaction SF 6 - +SF 6 to SF 6 - . Also the 'apparent' reduced mobilities of these two ions, and the ionisation and attachment coefficients are reported.
