The N 2 + (B 2 Sigma u + ) ions were produced through vacuum ultraviolet irradiation at lambda 462, 555, 630 and 637 AA and the intensities of the N 2 + (B 2 Sigma u + to X 2 Sigma g + ) bands were measured. The electronic transition moment of the system was found to be reasonably constant.
