The reaction of 14 N-active nitrogen with 15 N-ammonia produces only N 2 and H 2 . The nitrogen is exclusively 14 N 15 N. It is concluded that the primary process [Formula: see text](where N 2 * is probably in the A 3 Σ u + state, or a vibrationally excited X 1 Σ g + state) is followed by the secondary reactions [Formula: see text] [Formula: see text]which consume nitrogen atoms, in disagreement with earlier conclusions about the ammonia reaction.
