Conceptual analysis highlights potential benefits of autonomous vehicles in older adults, suggesting improved independence, medical access, and aging in place.
UNSTRUCTURED The proportion of older adult drivers is increasing and represents a growing population that must contemplate driving reduction and eventual cessation. The advent of self-driving vehicles opens wide possibilities to practical and far-reaching applications for our aging population. Here we propose various applications and benefits that self-driving vehicles have in maintaining independence and autonomy specifically of our aging population to preserve aging in place.
