The long-range order in heat treated Permalloys near the composition Ni3Fe was determined from x-ray measurements of the (100) superstructure reflection. Comparing heat treatments previously shown to stabilize magnetic anisotropy and magnetic saturation with those producing order, it can be concluded that long-range order is not a significant factor in affecting the magnetic properties of the usual compositions of Permalloys. From the breadth of the (100) reflection, an antiphase domain size of 60 Å was estimated for ordered Ni3Fe.
