The present paper explores pedagogical, technical, and institutional responses the current challenges and opportunities that MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) , specifically in the area of language teaching and learning. It does so through a review the current state of the art in the field. Besides reporting on this, the aim of the paper is ultimately to propose the factors to be taken into account in the design a MOOC on MALL (Mobile Assisted Language Learning) for language teachers within (Continuous Professional Development), which include technical, pedagogical and linguistic .
