United States donation after circulatory death liver transplantation is driven by a few high-utilization transplant centers

Donation after circulatory death liver transplant (DCD LT) outcomes have improved during the current decade,1 and patients receiving DCD LTs have improved survival compared to remaining on the waitlist.2 Despite this evidence favoring use of DCD LTs, our analysis of Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) data from 2013-2017 shows that the majority of DCD LTs are clustered in very few centers.
