Horizontal temperature measurements were made at depths of 30, 60, and 90 meters in the open ocean from a stable platform, the Marine Physical Laboratory's Flip. Structure functions of temperature calculated for these three depths are believed to be the result of internal waves, although the measurements cannot rule out the existence of turbulent influence at smaller lags. Also, autocorrelation functions were calculated, producing ‘correlation times’ of approximately 2 hours and ‘correlation lengths’ of approximately 2000 meters.
