Fluctuating surface pressure measurements have been made near separation in a Mach 5, swept shock/turbulent boundary-layer interaction induced by a sharp fin at angles of attack of 16 and 18 deg. Pressure signals in the initial compression region indicate a «shuddering» compression system, in contrast to a translating separation shock reported in previous studies of sharp fin interactions at Mach 3. The results suggest that the frequency range of the shuddering may scale on the large-eddy frequency of the incoming boundary layer
