Of 49 patients with renal artery aneurysms and hypertension, 41 had “pure” aneurysms in which no associated lesions that might account for the hypertension were found. The symptoms, blood pressure, laboratory data, and radiographs were not significant enough to indicate an aneurysm. Of those patients followed for one year or longer, those having nephrectomy showed 87.5% improvement or cure, while patients on medical regimes were not significantly improved.
