The device described is based on the Bridgman method of opposed anvils but employs a new sealing technique. This allows the support of the tapered portion of the anvils and the use of a metal gasket in a cell with electrical wiring. The cell was successfully used for four-terminal resistivity measurements on two samples and a lead manometer.
