Refractive index of dilute aqueous solution of potassium dodecyl sulfonate and sodium dodecyl sulfate have been measured as a function of concentration at 25°C. It is found that the feature of the refractive index curve resembles that of those curves for specific conductivity and density and that the intersection of the resulting two straight lines determines the critcal concentration for the formation of micelles.
