In Sweden there is a trend toward family-centered intervention for children with disabilities. However, most professionals are trained in child-focused intervention. The shift in focus has made it necessary to train professionals in the new orientation. This article discusses in-service training of professionals in family-centered practices. The training, which has been implemented on an interdisciplinary team basis in the context of ordinary habilitation services, is described as one of several options for fostering improvement within an organization. The implications for educational needs assessment, preparatory work, and the implementation and evaluation of training when moderators of change are integrated into ordinary services are discussed.
