Rare fossils including the gastropod Peruvispira aff. imbricata Waterhouse and the bivalve Atomodesma aff. marwicki Waterhouse indicate a late Lower Permian age for the middle part of the Greenhills Group. Plerophyllum aff. timorense Gerth occurs in a lower horizon of the Greenhills Group.
