Why the study?
Increasing cardiac electronic device implantations have led to more complications requiring transvenous lead extraction, a procedure associated with the risk of complications including fatal ones.
This review summarizes seven risk stratification scores for transvenous lead extraction to help assess the risk of complications in clinical practice.
Lead extraction risk scores require prospective validation; leaves open their standardized use in clinical practice.
The number of implantations of cardiac electronic devices is increasing. Along with this, there is an increase in complications requiring lead extraction. As we know, lead extraction is associated with the risk of complications, including fatal ones. This review considers seven risk stratification scores for transvenous lead extraction. Their advantages and disadvantages and importance of their use in practice are discussed in this article.
