Immune responsiveness to porcine lactic dehydrogenase in rats is linked to the H‐1 histocompatibility locus. Within 15 strains, 4 low‐responding strains were found, which were all homozygous for H‐1 a . All other strains, including heterozygous animals carrying the H‐1 a allele, were high responders. One of the high‐responding strains possesses the same known H‐1 specificities as the low‐responding strains except three, which the low responders carry in addition.
