A microscopic theory is employed to calculate the spin Green functions for thin films of Heisenberg ferromagnets. The effect of general asymmetric boundary conditions is considered including surface anisotropy (“pinning”) and variation of the exchange parameters. Results are also obtained for the spin wave spectrum and the layer magnetization.
