In previous papers we have described the location in man of the spinal pathways subserving sensation from the lower bowel and the motor aspects of defaecation (Nathan and Smith, 1953), and the spinal pathways subserving sensation from the bladder and urethra (Nathan and Smith, 1951; Nathan, 1952).
