Spontaneous polarization P s and rotational viscosity of the C -director η c were measured in two series of mixtures of L - and D -enantiomers of ferroelectric liquid crystals. It was confirmed that η c is independent of optical purity, while P s depends on it almost linearly. The results of η c are totally different from the recent results achieved by Dubal et al. , who showed that high P s accompanies high η c . An explanation is given for the discrepancy, suggesting that the present results are more reliable.
