Methods are provided for analyzing data of the “prefer A, prefer B, or no preference” type. These methods take proper account, of the “no preference” results and avoid the ad hoc treatments of these responses that are sometimes employed. Some of these treatments are listed by Odesky (1967). An exact solution is given, and some straightforward approximate methods are derived and illustrated.
