A modification due to Rudge of an approximation suggested by Ochkur is used to calculate the following excitation cross sections in helium. 1 1 S -> 2 3 S, 2 3 P, 3 3 S, 3 3 P, 3 3 D and 2 1 S -> 2 3 S. Various atomic wave functions are used and a comparison of the results is made with experimental data.
