Low birth babies in developing countries is primarily because of poor maternity health and nutrition. Aim:this study was conducted to assess the relationship between maternal periodontitis and the weight of the baby after birth. Materials and methods:It was a longitudinal study and subjects chosen from the outpatients of gynecology Department. The periodontal index was assessed using CPI- Community Periodontal index and Loss of attachment(LOA) Results:All the participants demonstrated periodontal pocket. Conclusion: Periodontitis may be associated with delivery of low birth babies
