For many approaches to timing electrons scattering from an electrostatic potential barrier there are simple realistic situations, involving barrier heights and incident electron kinetic energies both many orders of magnitude less than the rest energy mc2, for which the calculated mean transmission times imply superluminal velocities. The question of whether or not this is an artifact of using the nonrelativistic Schrödinger equation is investigated for the Bohm trajectory and Salecker-Wigner quantum clock approaches.
