Resonant Auger electrons from the decay of the atomic Xe 4d5/2^-16p(J0ex0ex=0ex0ex1) state excited with linearly polarized light are shown to have a strong spin polarization. The core hole states are not oriented in this case. We found polarization values ranging from -0.46 to $0.57$. For the decay to the 5p⁴(¹D₂)6p(²P1/2) state the ratio of the radiationless decay matrix elements and their relative phase, including its sign, are derived.
