A new gasometric method for the determination of dissolved oxygen is described. The sample of water is introduced into an evacuated apparatus and the dissolved gases are pumped out under vacuum and collected in a constant‐volume gas‐analysis unit, where the volume and composition of the extracted gas are measured. Determination of dissolved oxygen by this method and by the Winkler titration method for distilled water, and by the azide modification of the Winkler method for sea‐water, gave values which agreed within the limits of experimental error.
