This work adds 152 new records of bats to those already mentioned in the Atlas y Libro Rojo de los Mamíferos Terrestres de España (Palomo et al. 2007). The records were obtained between 2002 and 2009 in the Region of Murcia (SE Spain). This study brings the total number of bat species recorded in the region to twenty, the common pipistrelle (Pipistrellus pipistrellus) being the most cited, and the Nathusius’s pipistrelle (Pipistrellus nathusii) the least. The paper increases the known distribution of a great number of species and provides some data on the biology and behaviour of some of them. The use of different sampling techniques, along with echolocation call analysis, significantly increases the knowledge of the distribution of all these bat species, particularly of forest and fissure roosting species.
