The Chinese Journal of Cardiology (CJC), sponsored by the Chinese Medical Association, was established in February 1973 and is the journal of the Chinese Society of Cardiology. The successive Editors-in-Chief were Prof. Yingkai WU, Prof. Qi FANG, Prof. Fusheng GU, Prof. Runlin GAO, and Prof. Dayi HU. The current Editor-in-Chief is Prof. Yaling HAN. There are 118 editorial board members including six international editorial board members. In addition, the CJC has 67 communication editorial board members and four editors responsible for the daily work of the editorial office. The CJC publishes Editor-in-Chief’s Essay, Commentaries, Guidelines and Consensus, Perspectives, Clinical Researches, Basic Studies, Epidemiology and Population Prevention, Reviews, and Academic Trends. The CJC is a professional academic journal of cardiovascular diseases and related disciplines, with doctors engaged in cardiovascular disease prevention, medical treatment, and scientific research as main readers. It mainly reports the advanced scientific research achievements and clinical practice in the field of cardiovascular diseases in China, guiding the development of the subject and promoting academic exchanges. The CJC is indexed in MEDLINE, Core Chinese Journals of Science and Technology, Chinese Science Citation Database, and other international and domestic databases. From 2005 to 2017, the CJC was awarded ‘100 Chinese Outstanding Academic Journals’. From 2009 to 2018, the CJC was awarded ‘China's Top-Quality Scientific and Technological Journals’ and ‘China’s Outstanding Academic Journals with International Influence’. Several papers published in the journal were selected as ‘Top 100 Most Influential Domestic Academic Papers in China’, ‘Excellent Papers of the Chinese Association of Science and Technology’, ‘Top 100 Excellent Papers of Chinese Medicine’, and ‘Top Academic Papers of Chinese Quality Scientific and Technological Periodicals’. The China Science and Technology Journal Citation Report (core version) shows that the citation frequency of the CJC has increased to more than 5000 from 2015 to 2017, and its non-self cited rate is 95%. The CJC’s influencing factor, total citation frequency and comprehensive evaluation score, has reached the top place amongst the more than 2000 core natural journals in China. Over the past 46 years, the CJC has always adhered to the principle of combining theory with practice and basic study with clinical application, and actively followed the development trends of international and domestic disciplines. In nature, the CJC is the most influential professional journal in cardiovascular fields in China by commanding influence and respect while serving science and society.
