A report is given of a successful measurement of the Hall effect in single crystals of the organic salt triethylammonium (TCNQ) 2 at room temperature. A Hall mobility of the order of 0.6 cm 2 /Vs was found, the sign of the Hall constant being that appropriate for hole carriers. A study of the thermoelectric power sign was in agreement with the existence of holes. Study of the temperature dependence of the conductance indicated that some electrically active, gaseous impurities, which were believed to act as acceptors, were present in the samples. An interpretation of the experimental results is presented, including a discussion of the effect of the impurities on the electronic properties of the material. Some indications about the conduction process are suggested on the basis of a two‐band model.
