SUMMARY Principal lesions of experimentally induced Herpesvirus tamarinus infection in infant mice were proliferation of macrophages at the inoculation site and in the lungs, and necrosis and development of numerous intranuclear inclusion bodies in many tissues. Initial examination at 24 hours after mice were inoculated revealed moderate proliferation of macrophages at the site of inoculation, inclusion bodies in some of these macrophages and various adjoining cells, and specific fluorescence of moderate intensity in these cells. The occurrence of virus in many tissues previously considered uninvolved or not examined was established.
