Three of four patients with persistent, primary ovarian carcinoma containing choriocarcinoma treated with combined methotrexate, actinomycin D and chlorambucil have sustained remissions lasting for 14 months to four and a half years. To our knowledge these are the first such patients reported to have survived for more than 12 months after diagnosis. These results support the use of vigorous chemotherapy for patients with primary ovarian cancers containing choriocarcinoma when attempted surgical cure has failed.
