Wigner release in the moderator of an uranium-graphite reactor is studied with some typical boundary conditions and for some thermal perturbations. Next, Wigner energy release experiments which have been performed up to the present and related techniques are examined in some details. Some predictions on Wigner release in high-temperature reactors (T > 250 deg C), which are operating or being built, are presented. (auth)
