A geographical map is a picture of a portion of the earth’s surface that depicts relationships among important points. Similarly, a concept map is a picture of a part of a discipline’s body of work that depicts relationships among important theories and concepts. Concept maps are an economical form of communicating information at a glance, and an effective tool in teaching conceptual ideas to students. Concept maps, as the name implies, involve conceptual skill, which highlights relationships; the links among the concepts are as important as the concepts themselves.
