The application of motional Stark-effect and laser fluorescence techniques for the determination of magnetic fields is demonstrated in a model-experiment. Two dye lasers are used to excite atoms from a 30 keV Li-beam by a two-step process (2 S -2 P -4 D ) in a pulsed magnetic field. The fluorescence intensity is measured as function of laser wavelength and compared with the calculated profiles. From the Zeeman pattern of the 2 S -2 P transition the field strength is deduced, too.
