Endovascular stent-graft insertion can serve as a viable alternative to high-risk open surgery for patients with chronic descending aortic dissection complicated by aortic enlargement and impending rupture.
Recently, stent-graft insertion has been widely used along with surgery for treatment of thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysm. However, use of stent-graft insertion is controversial in descending aortic dissection. We report here on our experience of a patient who received a stent-graft for descending aortic dissection that nearly ruptured.Based on CT findings at three months follow up, results were satisfactory.

Woo et al. (2010) conducted a case report in Descending aortic dissection with intimal tear of the aortic isthmus and impending rupture (n=1). Endovascular stent-graft insertion (36x135 mm SEAL stent-graft) was evaluated on False lumen thrombosis, descending thoracic aorta size reduction, and symptom resolution on CT follow-up at 3 months (91 days).
