The objective of this work is to develop a model for the simultaneous mass transfer of two acid gases in tertiary amines accompanied by reversible chemical reactions. The model has been applied to the industrially important system of simultaneous. absorption or desorption of CO 2 and H 2 S in aqueous methyldiethanolamine (MDEA). In most applications the treated gas must be virtually free of H 2 S; however, it is often not necessary or economical to remove substantial amounts of CO 2. Hence, selective removal of H 2 S from gas streams such as natural or synthetic gases which contain CO 2 is desirable.
