The coupling of electrostatic drift modes due to the ion, magnetic curvature drift in a torus is examined analytically and numerically. It is found that this toroidal effect is not sufficient to destabilize the electron drift modes for values of shear, temperature gradients, and current drive that are typical of tokamaks and within the limits of the theoretical approximations.
