Summary A method of induction of labour by amniotomy and micro‐infusion of oxytocin (Syntocinon) is described. The micro‐in‐ fusion reduces the amount of intravenous fluid required to effect delivery to less than 500 ml. in most cases. There were no maternal complications and 96% of patients were delivered on the day of the infusion. The Caesarean section rate was 3%. There was no perinatal mortality attributed to the method of induction. The potential risks of the method are emphasized.
