A number of alkaline-type gold deposits including Wulashan, Dongping, Heishanmen, Qiyugou, Guilaizhuang, and Shuangwang have been identified within the north China craton. All these six deposits are spatially and temporally related to alkaline intrusives complexes, dyke swarms, and breccia zones that formed during the Hercynian and Mesozoic Yan-shanian orogenies. Gold mineralization is confined mainly to K-feldspar-quartz stockworks, quartz veins, and albitite lenses. Results from recent studies show a direct link between gold metallogeny and alkaline magma rich in volatile components. Alkaline intrusive and eruptive rocks are well developed within the north China craton or along its marginal deep-seated faults. Therefore, these alkaline igneous rocks deserve particular attention during mineral exploration and metallogenic studies.
