D. stigmaticollis [D. frumenti], which is a secondary pest of coconut palms, is reported for the first time in Pondicherry, India. It infests both young and adult palms, particularly those infected by Thielaviopsis paradoxa [Ceratocystis paradoxa], the causal agent of stem bleeding disease. Swabbing with 1% carbaryl (Sevin 50% WP) is suggested as a remedial measure for controlling this pest.
