In 1976, seven stations measuring the variations of the telluric and geomagnetic fields in the period range 1–125 s were operated in the southern part of the Rhinegraben. The study of the recordings shows that the telluric field is linearly polarized according to a direction perpendicular to that of the horizontal anomalous magnetic fields and that telluric and anomalous magnetic fields have the same time dependence. The conducted currents responsible for the anomaly flow probably into the superficial conductive layer.
