Examines impacts of social quality on graduate work readiness in college students, suggesting new models for educational success.
Social quality has emerged as a modern facet of computer-supported collaborative learning (CSCL). With this understanding that social needs can be met with modern technology, this study has proposed the “hierarchy of quality dimensions theory” and “social quality in IS (SQIS) success model” for testing the potential function of social quality in information system (IS) success presenting a 20-year update of IS success model. Further, existing literature is silent about the prospective function of CSCL in determining graduate work readiness (GWR) as a success factor of educational platforms. To close this gap, our proposed SQIS success model integrates the aspects of social quality with IS success for assessing GWR. A survey-based cross-sectional questionnaire was prepared to evaluate the work readiness of undergraduate students. Data collected from 380 respondents were analyzed with the partial least squares approach for testing the proposed SQIS success model. Findings unveiled that, along with other SQIS success model constructs, social quality in technology-infused education is also instrumental in determining GWR. Future studies can employ the SQIS success model and our proposed hierarchy of quality dimensions theory in different managerial, corporate, educational and cultural contexts.
