The primary end point was change in urinary albumin-creatinine ratio (UACR) from baseline at 12 weeks; secondary endpoints included safety, tolerability, and glomerular filtration changes.
UACR reductions relative to placebo were -38.6% (90% CI, -60.9% to -3.6%) at 1 week, -39.4% (90% CI, -61.8% to -3.8%) at 12 weeks, and -49.3% (90% CI, -68.2% to -19.0%) at 24 weeks.
Serum urate concentrations decreased by 59.6% at 12 weeks and 63.7% at 24 weeks compared to placebo.
Verinurad plus febuxostat was well tolerated, with no clinically meaningful differences observed in estimated glomerular filtration rate, serum creatinine, or serum cystatin C concentrations.
