Schottky barriers formed by a conducting polymer, polypyrrole, grown on crystalline and amorphous hydrogenated silicon have been studied. Three techniques have been used to measure the height of the Schottky barrier: I ( V ), C ( V ) and internal photoemission. All measurements give a large barrier height. It can be concluded that the work function of polypyrrole, which is a metallike conducting polymer, is high and close to that of gold.
