Among 219 respondents, undergraduate or graduate status did not emerge as a good predictor of empathy towards aids victims, fear of aids, or knowledge of AIDS. Knowledge about aids was a better predictor of fear than age, race, or sex. Greater knowledge was associated with greater empathy.
