A method has been developed for the extraction and analysis of phenolic components from crude extracts of Ginkgo biloba by supercritical fluid extraction with carbon dioxide combined with off‐line capillary gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. Class‐selective extraction has been performed with a single supercritical fluid by varying the extraction conditions. This method is applicable to the scale‐up, isolation and identification of toxic phenolic components in commercial extracts of G. biloba .
