The advent of the digital computer has made the analysis of large quantities of hydrologic data possible. It has also made possible certain types of analyses that were not feasible for hand calculation. Among these techniques are multiple regression and regression on the principal components of data matrices. This report compares these two techniques when they are applied to the problem of predicting water yields in Kentucky.
