Manganese phosphate is used as a violet pigment. In this manganese phosphate preparation, the effect of milling the mixture of manganese oxide and diammonium hydrogen phosphate was investigated. For samples mixed at a P/Mn=2/1 ratio, heating at 400C produced the brightest purple pigment. In these samples heated at 400C, the longer milling time resulted in a more distinct violet pigment. The samples showed weak XRD peaks of NH4MnP2O7.Samples with different P/Mn ratios were also examined in the same way. When paint was prepared using the obtained violet pigment and applied over the letters, it was confirmed that the hiding power was improved by mill treatment on the raw materials.
